A catalog of printing machinery, equipment, and supplies as sold by the American Type Founders Company in 1897. It also includes a small selection of wood type and an extensive and informative section of Useful Information for Printers. This digital edition was scanned by Stephen O. Saxe from his copies, with additional image preparation by Dr. David M. MacMillan.
This digital edition was scanned from two physical copies so as to provide a complete digital version using the least-damaged parts of each (the pages all came from one copy, and the covers from another). These originals were scanned at 600dpi RGB. The presentation here consists of PDFs (plus the versions automatically derived by The Internet Archive's system) composed of JPEG versions of these scans at three different effective resolutions (100 percent (600dpi), 50 percent (300dpi), and 25 percent (150 dpi)). All were processed at a JPEG "quality" level of 75. The file sizes of the original PDFs are 709 Megabytes, 205 Megabytes, and 58 Megabytes, respectively. The image quality of the 25 percent version is significantly poorer than the others; it is of use only if bandwidth or storage limitations are a concern. It is best to use the 50 percent or 100 percent versions for the "read online" option. You may identify each of the versions by the percentage as encoded in the filename (*-100pct-*, *-75pct-*, and *-25pct-* ).
